Towards a more active nation

The newly appointed NHS Tsar for Health & Sport will open Bearhunt's national conference Towards a more active nation:How the NHS can make physical activity a cornerstone of 21st century health.

The conference to be held in Manchester on 25th February 2010, comes as Government figures suggest that if just 1% of people on incapacity benefit get back into work through active lifestyles, it would save £67 million a year, whilst if greater activity levels produced a 1% reduction in falls amongst elderly people some £200 million would be saved.

We are 21st in the European league table of physical activity. The target is to be in the top four within ten years. It's a a journey that starts here.
