Come on over to myplace
No, it's not another ham fisted chat up line - myplace is a once in a lifetime opportunity to change the space and the place that young people occupy in our society.
This £270 million investment by the Department of Children, Schools and Families saw the creation of 68 World class places to go for young people. Working as a part of a consortium including Hall Aiten; Gleeds; YMCA; Burness; Durham University and YMCA College, Bearhunt played a major role over a four year period to contribute to the success of myplace.
Our team helped with long term financial sustainability for centres, working to develop business plans and an entrepreneurial culture; engaging the private sector, philanthropists and other agencies; and raising the profile of myplace including the recruitment and development of a team of celebrity ambassadors.

The Partington Healthpark
The centre of Partington, which lies on the western edge of Manchester, has undergone a revitalisation in recent years. The Partington Healthy Living Centre got through a phase one assessmentand was given 6 months to complete a business plan and develop a bid. We were called in with just six weeks to go before the deadline. As well as doing the plan and the bid we had to win over the community and local elected members along the way. It was a big ask, but we got them £1 million which unlocked a further £1 million in SRB and ESF monies. We then went on to devise a series of moves involving a marketplace, a Sure Start Centre and Primary Care Services, to bring the Healthpark to fruition.

Your Route to a Stable Decision – Selecting a preferred bidder for Manchester, Salford and Trafford LIFT
Selecting a preferred bidder for a £75 million project is not easy. It is even harder when there are 12 stakeholder organisations, 6 sample sites, a range of technical experts, independent contractors, many bidders, and several variant bids. We designed and managed the process that enabled the Manchester, Salford & Trafford LIFT Company to commission a range of health service facilities valued at £75 million under the Private Finance Initiative. This involved engaging a huge range of stakeholders in the process including Health Authority finance and technical staff; doctors; local community; members; third sector agencies; advocates; architects and planners. Our multi-criteria decision making process allowed 30 people to engage directly in the decision making process and resulted in a high degree of ownership over the eventual decision.

The older Peoples Healthy Living Centre
The art of growing old is to die young – but as late as possible! Age Concern Hull wanted to create the pre-eminent centre for older people – The Older People’s Healthy Living Centre. With a café; health suites; gym; wetrooms; IT suite; retail; and activity spaces, they needed £2.3 million. We developed the business plan and successfully secured £1 million from the New Opportunities Fund. This helped us to unlock £1.3 million from the council.
